We just got back from our first camping trip of the summer. We went to the same camp ground that we went to last summer. I knew the kids had grown but it was obvious just how much they had grown when they worked the water pump this summer.

Thankfully we slept through the bear in the camp ground. We had everything stored in the car, but the camp site 30 feet away left their garbage bags on the picnic table. The only evidence of the bear at our site was the poop 10 feet from our tent. The bear tore the trash bag to pieces. Apparently some campers on the other side of the grounds had left out a cooler and the bear destroyed their cooler.

The kids are already asking to go camping again. It is amazing how removed from the world it seems out at the campground. It is just 47 miles from the house. There is no cell phone coverage or electricity.

We have a camp grill and ate "gourmet" meals on our trip. The only draw back is the lack of showers. The kids came home wearing 5 pounds of dirt.

The kids enjoyed their private times at camp. Caralynn did an under the water theme and Jake did a dinosaur theme.

They are enjoying swimming lessons. They are about to move to stroke development lessons. I think I might do 2 or 3 private sessions for them instead of the group. Jake moves across the water, but using about 4 different strokes at once. His arms and legs don't do the same stroke. It is very entertaining to watch. Caralynn is becoming a pro at the back stroke. She is in "training" for the kids triathlon. Jake hasn't officially decided if he wants to participate in the triathlon.
